We tend to overcomplicate what a brand message should look like. So, I’m here to oversimplify it for you. Think of your brand as your business’s personality. Is she sassy and cheeky? Or perhaps she’s deep and thought-provoking?
Your brand statements are simply her catchy one-liners. If she were sitting at a pau hana with her closest friends would she prefer to speak about world peace or the latest gossip? Step into her identity to better understand who your business is.
Now that you’re a marketing expert, let’s dive into ways your brand statements will make business decisions easy:
Aesthetics
You have a look -- your hair, makeup, outfits – so does your brand. Remember the last time you went shopping for a close friend to pick out a gift she’ll love and not return for store credit? When you saw the perfect gift you probably said, “that’s so Brenda!” So, imagining your business as a person you’re shopping for. Think about her favorite color, texture, and style. Then buy it with no gift return receipt!
Value
World peace or latest Gucci shoe? Which would she talk about after a few drinks at the Lay Low? Understanding your brand values gives you talking points. Perhaps she appreciates the latest cat meme because she’s unwinding from chasing toddlers while building her business all day. Understand what she wants to consume and give it to her! She deserves it.
Partnerships
Partnerships are like dating. It’s really simple - you’re on the same wavelength not. Asking yourself: is this my people? Will save a ton of time, headache, and heartache.
The amount of opportunity in entrepreneurship will make anyone’s head spin – there’s endless amount’s options! Using your brand statements as a touch stone provides clarity for your audience and you as a business owner. Next time you’re faced with tough decision, ask yourself: how does this connect with my brand?
