How To Leverage Energetic Calibration | Interview with Uakea Egami
The other day, Uakea Egami introduced me to the concept of “energetic calibration.” At first, it all sounded a little woo-woo. Until I experience the magic, the logical side of my brain looks for ways to understand it. Until then, it’s woo-woo.
Needless to say, I was not disappointed by how elegantly Uakea delivered this new skill during our Instagram Live. Thinking back to my most productive days, I would apply energetic calibration without realizing it!
I asked Uakea a few follow-up questions to understand how we can use our natural energy to get the job done.
Michelle: What is energetic calibration?
Uakea: Energetic calibration is a tool we use, a personalized scale, that helps you to decipher what is aligned with your values and your soul. Many of us face option overload or decision paralysis because we just have so many options fed to us daily. So when you're needing help to decipher between good, better and best, this will help you get better in making the right choices in what you will pursue and won't pursue, what you will do and won't do.
Michelle: How do you apply energetic calibration?
Uakea: This is like meditation, so we start by creating space to draw your attention silently inward. Once we have created the scale by which to measure our options, we can then take an opportunity, something on our to-do list, a partnership or an idea, and hold it up to our own personalized scale. If that item registers high on your scale because it resembles our peak experience, then it becomes a priority of high importance and that's what you'll tackle first. I use this to be intentional about what projects I take on, what foods I eat, what events I attend, and sometimes how long I spend on a task. Because I only have so many hours in a day to do the things that I enjoy and need to accomplish, I like that this helps me see what is good, better and best so that I can make sure I'm taking care of the things that bring me the most satisfaction.
Michelle: What are the key factors in reaching success?
Uakea: Everyone's unique definition of success will evolve and I believe that your attainment of "success" is directly correlated to the amount of self-inquiry that you pursue. But personally I could simplify this into 4 major points: Understanding who we are; Pursuing meaningful intentions; Forging healthy partnerships; and above all, Grace.
Michelle: How can we be mindful of our surroundings on the journey?
Uakea: Keep a road map of your values, strengths, vision, and accomplishments nearby. Visit these often and stop and smell the plants!
Michelle: Share some valuable tips we should keep with as we follow our road map.
Uakea: My tips are
Breathe!
Having a mentor or coach with excellent character and listening skills will make a world of a difference.
It's ok to say, "That a great idea. I'd love to take some time to think about it and get back to you in a day."
Find 3 ways to relieve your stress and incorporate them into a daily practice.
Michelle: How do you incorporate essential oils into your life as a professional?
Uakea: I use my essential oils every single day to lift my mood, relieve muscle tension, and round out my meditation. Plus they are an integral part of maintaining my happy digestive system. In stressful situations, the protective part of our brain begins releasing hormones that reduce our thinking capacity to 40% of its full functioning capacity, meaning my thinking gets foggy and I have a harder time making decisions. If that stress increases or prolongs, our fight or flight response kicks in, reducing our thinking capacity even further. So, as soon as a stressful situation begins to arise, I'll stop and take a moment to take 3 deep breaths with my favorite blends: AromaTouch, Adaptiv, Arise, or Balance.
My hour-long acupressure sessions include a 20 minute section of me rubbing a custom set of oils along your back and feet.
