Design a world that fuels your creativity
Are you afraid to share what’s really on your mind because of what others may think? Suppressing your voice makes you feel like you’re losing who you are, for the sake of everyone else. I’ve been there. We all have! So how do you overpower the fear of being judged?
I was chatting with Kristell Bieniasz on the phone the other day. And unbeknownst to her, she reminded me why casual conversations are so fun! When we feel comfortable and safe, we give people a Backstage Pass to our thoughts.
“Ambient is a piece of a bigger puzzle”
We’re living in the moment and expressing ourselves with no reservations. For a moment, we’re embracing who we are so others can too.
Kristell is the co-founder of Ambient Rentals. With their eclectic furniture pieces, you’ll turn your dream fantasy land into your reality. “Ambient is a piece of a bigger puzzle,” said Kristell. Alongside other local creatives, Kristell and her sister Kim, contribute to building a dreamlike wonderland for you.
Michelle: Share about the magical world you’ve created for Ambient Rentals.
Kristell: We live in the clouds! And we choose to surround ourselves with local creatives and dreamweavers. My sister and I placed a call into the universe for what we want. And we know the right people have received it. When we create together, it’s not always that clear. Actually, sometimes we can't properly define or express it! But we know when everything is aligned, magic happens.
Staying connected to my outsider and worlds helps me stay grounded. It’s so important because it’s tough when you are trying to harness creative energy by yourself. So as “Care Bear” as this sounds, my magical world is to lead with Love & Light. That's the type of energy this world needs. When that happens you have to fight for what you believe is right to hold on to that magic.
There are alot of expressive people out there and we hope to be an aide in that world just by being ourselves.
Michelle: What’s your perspective of duality as a creative entrepreneur?
Kristell: Duality is the ability to stay fluid in business. For me that means having an authentic connection with my divine feminine while living in a masculine society (especially in the business world). Being fluid means the ability to shape shift between a strong or gentle energy.
Women have the natural essence of creation within us. It's only fitting we are able to embrace that. I choose to do so by leveraging my inner creator through events.
Love & Kindness can be brought into business without judgment. This is how we as a society can evolve to be better people. Men can let their guards down to be softer, and women can be brave enough to be masculine.
Michelle: How have you and your biz evolved over the past year?
Kristell: First word that comes to mind is bravery. We’re in our third year of business and new doors are opening for us. But we need to be brave. We are learning our niche, which is simply to gravitate towards people with open hearts. We’re staying true to what’s right for who we are as individuals and biz owners. We’ve learned to see and value good people.
It’s all a learning experience. And we are learning to lead with true Aloha which living in Hawaii has taught us. We constantly seek to define what Aloha means to ourselves and then build around that. It’s important for us to remain true to the definition of Aloha. Confidence in that is being built, and it's just the beginning.
Michelle: As a deep thinker, how do you handle when others misunderstand your thoughts?
Kristell: Agh, patience! I’m being patient by being intentonal with my words. It feels personal when people don’t hear me or worst, misinterpret what I’m saying. I’m learning that letting go of control of other peoples reaction is key.
Which can unfold in a not so pleasant way if others speak of “your words” from that perspective. I remind myself to see things in at least five different perspectives. Which is a challenge, but its reality. And important because what I’m seeing, may not be what you're seeing. And beyond us there are a thousand people who see it in other ways. So I just challenge myself to give it more thought before anything else.
Michelle: How do you express your creativity through your biz?
Kristell: That's a fun question! Basically it all started by doing what I loved which was sourcing. My sister and I like magic and call ourselves “Sourcer-ers!” Honestly it's seeing beyond what’s obvious, and opening up the many possibilities. Then knowing how to market your vision so others can see it too.
Also, and this is a big one, through collaboration, Ambient Rentals is a piece of a bigger puzzle. Without others the vision wouldn’t come to life. I also find enjoyment through instagram and posting the final product because a picture speaks a thousand words, then I’ll add to the caption.
Ambient Rentals began as an idea in 2017. Kristell and her sister Kim dreamt of launching a biz that fueled their creativity. When the right Peacock chairs from Wisconsin appeared, it was their time to turn their dreams into reality.
