Momi Ramolete
Company Name: Pua Mohala Healing and Advocacy Services, LLC
Fun Fact: Iʻve danced hula in 14 Merrie Monarchs.
About your company: Through workshops & retreats on mental health, holistic healing, and aloha ʻāina, we help ʻōpio (teens and young adults) become culturally conscious adults.
Why you started: We saw a lack of representation within the school and therapeutic setting. We wanted to be able to provide BIPOC youth with healing services. Our hope is that our Pua Mohala youth will stay rooted in their culture. We believe in the ʻōlelo noʻeau (Hawaiian saying), “I ka wā ma mua, i ka wā ma hope.” This means the future is in the past. It is our belief that, through our ancestral knowledge, healing lies within each of us. We show our Pua Mohala youth how to tap into that knowledge so they can make better choices for themselves.

“The moon helps us to reconnect to the rhythms of our body.” shares Priscilla Smith, co-founder of Pua Mohala. “On average, both the lunar cycle and a menstruation cycle are equal in length. The moon has four phases, as does our menstrual cycle.”
