the vision that makes you cry

Stepping into your dream life ain’t like the movies. There’s no climactic song playing in the background when you reach your aha moment, nor is there a director ready to call cut when you’re getting off track. In fact, here’s what most people fail to realize -- stepping into your dream life is as simple as saying “yes” to something that sounds interesting.

Megan Talabis started her Monat business in October 2019 to help pay for her school tuition and supplement her income. But this simple idea evolved into a strong circle of like-minded, goal-focused women. “It’s incredibly inspiring to be surrounded by so many women who are all chasing their dreams and goals, making zero excuses along the way,” Megan expresses.

Although Megan already found her passion in the medical industry, she continued to say yes to the opportunity leading to a lifestyle full of ambition and fulfillment.

Michelle: How did you discover Monat?

Megan: I discovered Monat through my mentor and now one of my closest friends, Nicki! A little over a year ago I was browsing the Instagram explore page and came across Nicki’s page. She gave off such a great energy it was easy to want to follow her. Shortly after she became a Monat VIP customer and documented her amazing hair transformation. I was so intrigued with her results I just HAD to try it for myself!

Michelle: What’s the best part about working with other ambitious women?

Megan: I think the best part about working with other like-minded, goal driven women is the accountability aspect. It’s incredibly inspiring to be surrounded by so many women who are all chasing their dreams and goals making zero excuses along the way. I thrive off of that type of energy and it helps me stay accountable to goals that I’ve set for myself.

Michelle: How do you stay motivated?

Megan: I always go back to my “why”. I can’t stress enough how important it is to take some time at the beginning of every month and remember why you started your business in the first place. One of my favorite sayings is, “your why should make you cry”. In other words, your why (or whys) should move you to the core! Most people will get unmotivated, get discouraged, and quit their businesses because they don’t have clarity on why they are doing it in the first place. Writing down your whys helps to solidify them even more. You can even make it fun and get creative with a vision board! That way, you’ll also have a visual reminder that will help you keep your focus and vision clear during moments of difficulty.

Michelle: You’re great at showing up in front of the camera. How did you get comfortable with promoting your biz on social media?

Megan: Thank you! To be very honest, I’ve never been fearful or nervous about showing up in front of the camera as far as speaking, but what I did wrestle with in the beginning was the idea of promoting my business. I was hesitant to show up because I kept thinking, “What if my audience doesn’t resonate with me anymore/what if they think I’m annoying/what if I lose followers, etc.” However, I went back to my why and knew that if I wanted to achieve my goals then I would have to find a way to shift my mindset and get over my fear of other people’s opinions. I began listening to personal development podcasts daily, invested in trying out more of our products so that I would feel even more confident in what I was recommending to my clients, and ultimately my mindset shifted completely! Once I made this mindset shift I became even more passionate and enthusiastic about my business and talking about it openly on my social media felt more natural.

Michelle: Where do you plan on taking your business in the next 5 years?

Megan: Aside from my business I am also a medical lab scientist currently interviewing for a seat in physician assistant school. I began this business initially just as a way to supplement my income, not even dreaming for one second I would be mentoring and growing the team that I have today. I am so incredibly grateful for everything that this business has given me (WAY better hair for one) but it’s also allowed me to step into a leadership/mentorship role that I’m not sure I would have been able to tap into without this opportunity. My hope is that in the next 5 years I will have graduated from PA school debt free with the residual income from my business supporting me while in school. I also see myself continuing my business and tying it into my practice as a PA.
