This took me two years to learn, and I’d like to save you the trouble by sharing a smarter way of online marketing in this 2-minute blog post. Social media is a cost-effective marketing tool that can catapult your business by educating your customers on your brand message and values.

90% of Oak + Pine’s customers are from Instagram alone.  However, according to wordstream.com, 95 million posts and videos are uploaded on Instagram per day! So this begs the question, are you wasting your time curating the perfect content for social media?

Here’s the truth -- if you’re dedicating more than 15 mins to create a piece of content, then the answer is yes. There’s a good chance that more than 80% of your followers will miss this golden Instagram post. Nothing against you -- maybe they’re taking a social media detox. Or maybe they had a rough day and want a good laugh by scrolling through @influencersinthewild. Whatever the case, only 20% of your audience will see your posts.

Despite what social media marketers tell you, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn are small parts of your marketing game. Instead, focus on evergreen content by leveraging platforms that recirculate old content. Here are three search engines you should use to promote your brand.

Pinterest

Unlike Google, Pinterest is a search engine designed around photos. You can link out to anything on the World Wide Web -- your Instagram, website, or opt-in form. And the best part, instead of force-feeding your product to your audience, like on social media, your customers are actively searching for you.

YouTube

YouTube is a search engine that favors long-form video content. But here’s why YouTube could be a better route over Pinterest -- it’s also entertainment. YouTube gives you a platform to provide valuable content while keeping your audience engaged, so they keep coming back for more.

Blogging

Despite what you may have heard, blogging is not dead. The written word will always be the best way to convey a message. Get intentional with your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Strategy so your audience can find you on Google.

Where does social media come into play? Use social media to build a genuine relationship with your audience, so frankly, they’ll care about what you have to say.

Here’s how you connect these three search engines and all social media platforms. It’s quite simple -- post your detailed content on Pinterest, YouTube, or Blog, then promote it through social media. And here’s the best part -- you can repost and reshare over and over again. You’re welcome.

This blog post was inspired by a conversation with our Oak + Pine Society Members during our Coffee Chat this week. That was the moment I realized this is a prime example of working smarter, not harder.
